As a Sydney funeral celebrant who specialises in storytelling, I help people just like you to create a funeral ceremony that’s meaningful, assisting those left behind to have a more healthy, healing bereavement.
Drawing on 23 years experience as an internationally published writer, my clients appreciate that their loved one’s funeral ceremony won’t be generic, and is a genuine and personalised tribute to them.
My Purpose
I value ceremonies that have depth and meaning, so I became a funeral celebrant to offer ceremonies filled with authentic & honest storytelling.
“Meggan conducted my grandfather’s funeral with great dignity, & treated it as if it were her own family member who had died. She‘s compassionate, graceful, articulate & sincere. We have nothing but praise for her. She was simply amazing pre, during & post service.”

A Funeral Celebrant in Sydney You Can Trust
How I Became A Funeral Celebrant
In 2011, I wrote an article for Wellbeing Magazine on “Dying Gracefully.” As part of my research I interviewed Funeral Celebrant Zenith Virago (Founder & EO of The Natural Death Care Centre charity, Australia) plus a man who plays the harp to people as they’re dying. At the end of those 2 phone calls I knew I’d stumbled across something I was meant to be doing in my life – supporting people through death and dying. Later that month I flew to Byron Bay to train with Zenith and a few months later helped my first family create a beautiful funeral for their grandmother. I then went on to do my Deathwalker Training with Zenith and to help many more families.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Does A Funeral Celebrant Do?
The funeral celebrant is responsible for putting together the content of the funeral service and is the host of the funeral service on the day. You can read more detail in this blog.
How soon after the death should the funeral take place?
You may not want to have to have the funeral soon after the death, especially if people are coming from overseas.
If you want or need to, you can delay the funeral so that everyone has more time to plan the best possible tribute.
You can either have the funeral service at the same time as the cremation or at a later date.
How long will the funeral go for?
It’s up to you, but I’d suggest you book 2 time slots if you have it in a crematorium chapel so that you’re not rushing to get everyone in and out and having to end the funeral prematurely. Having the ceremony in a park, surf club, hall or at home allows you to take as much time as you want.
Do we need a Funeral Director?
Given the emotional state people usually are in following a death, most people do choose to have a funeral director. But it is possible to to everything yourself. You can ready more about this in this blog.
